Mr. Trent is no stranger to my office. He has been visiting us for years when he has needed care for his knees or shoulders. Well this time, his visit was under different auspices. He came by and surprised us this week with a beautiful, hand-crafted, personalized and inscribed, doctor’s bag. He made this completely from scratch- cutting, shaping, weaving, staining, inscribing, and assembling the bag in his home workshop. I was touched to receive this token of appreciation from him, but really, as a surgeon, the honor and distinction should go to him. As a surgeon it is very humbling when someone grants me the privilege and trust to “cut” on them. I do not take the responsibility for granted, and am grateful for the faith and confidence Mr. Trent and others have placed in me.
