Meet Evan! With the pandemic making it hard to get any exercise indoors, Evan enjoyed riding his bike outside. Due to an unfortunate accident however he was thrown off his bike directly onto his shoulder. He knew something wasn’t right the moment he tried to get up and grab his bike. His X-rays speak for themselves. Historically this injury might have been treated non-operatively but given his lifestyle, activity demands, degree of bone displacement, and fracture fragmentation, we elected to proceed with surgery.
I am a big fan of anterior plating for fixing these fractures. Here we were able to secure a great reduction and ultimately a great outcome. Thanks to the surgery, within weeks he was back to work with much less downtime than with nonoperative management.
Good luck Evan and glad to see you back to good health and good riding.
