Ashvin Dewan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon serving patients in and around Sugar Land, Texas. At Ashvin K. Dewan, MD, Dr. Dewan’s special interests include sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle, and hip.
Dr. Dewan earned his Bachelor of Science in bioengineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas, graduating summa cum laude. He then completed his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, also in Houston. After receiving world-class orthopedic surgical training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, he completed a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. While in training, he was awarded the “Most Outstanding Researcher” award.
Dr. Dewan is familiar with the latest arthroscopic and arthroplasty techniques. He stays up-to-date with the latest medical advancements and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. In addition to being an orthopedic surgeon during the day, Dr. Dewan is a coder by night. He is the co-founder of CaseCtrl, a platform that aims to streamline and coordinate surgeries.
Prior to establishing his practice, he sought additional professional experience with the Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Rams, and St. Louis Blues. When an opportunity to join the growing practice at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital arose, it was an easy decision for him to return home. He is excited to be back serving his local community.
Dr. Dewan is also very active in the development of innovative surgical management tools. He is co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of CaseCTRL - a collaborative surgical management platform used by several practices to deliver state-of-the-art patient care. CaseCTRL uses artificial intelligence and automation to prevent surgery cancellations, reduce administrative burden, and optimize patients so that high performing surgeons and teams can focus on delivering quality personalized care for their patients.
